Cartesian has announced the closure of two new cloud-based revenue analytics contracts in EMEA, worth over USD2mn in total. The vendors of revenue assurance, analytics and consulting services provided very few details in their press release but astute followers of the market can probably guess who the customers are. Per the announcement, the telcos are:
- a European telecommunications company operating under a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) business model with a portfolio of media and low-cost calling solutions that serve a growing base of international communities and migrant workers; and
- one of Europe’s largest media companies and pay TV broadcasters, which is also an existing fixed line revenue analytics customer of Cartesian and recently contracted with Cartesian’s Farncombe unit for services in media advisory and content security market.
Though the deals are classified as revenue analytics, the details suggest they both involve a lot of revenue assurance. Is this a sign that Cartesian thinks investors find analytics sexier than assurance? Or might this mean there is some snobbery against good old fashioned RA?
Cartesian needs some good news after a very bad run of results that has seen its share price tumble to less than a quarter of what it was a year ago. Whilst investors will be glad of positive news from EMEA they will be most concerned about the company’s troubled strategy in North America.
