Knockout Agenda for Risk and Assurance Group

The oldest revenue assurance event is now bigger, better, and beefier, with an expanded risk and assurance agenda that hits harder than ever before. Watch out, because the next round of its decade-long fight against leaks and losses is coming very soon. Boom!

Last meeting, RAG members unanimously agreed to change the name of their gathering to the Risk and Assurance Group. This thrice-yearly London event will still feature plenty of revenue assurance news and advice, but will also cover fraud management, risk management, and all those grey areas that float somewhere between. The transformation is like taking a boxer with a great jab, and teaching him to land uppercuts, hooks and bodyblows too. Pow!

If you do not believe me, just check out the confirmed presentations for the next RAG meeting on Thursday 12th November. This heavyweight agenda could go toe-to-toe with any conference, anywhere.

Rene Felber of TeliaSonera Finland will fly in to talk about his work with the TM Forum Revenue Assurance team. He will discuss the results from the TMF’s 2015 RA survey, the need to gather further benchmarking data with their new survey, and how this information helps him to manage risk and revenue assurance for TeliaSonera. Wham!

Jason Lane-Sellars, Board Director and Executive Secretary of the Communications Fraud and Control Association (CFCA), will be presenting the results of their new global fraud survey. Knowing Jason, he will also draw on his extensive experience as a fraud manager and consultant to provide lots of additional insights into the findings. Zonk!

Horia Selegean will tell us how BT Group does contract assurance for its global services. The RAG audience will learn why BT’s RA Function needed to expand their scope to provide crucial new kinds of assurance over commercial activities. Krunch!

Andy Gent, CEO of Revector, will talk about the hottest topic in telecoms risk: OTT bypass. Can OTT bypass be classified as a fraud? Who in the telco should respond to it? Is it against the law to block it? How do we even detect when it is happening, and should we prepare for a surge of customer complaints? Zap!

And to land the finishing blow, Commsrisk quizmaster Lee Scargall will describe how Ooredoo Group assesses enterprise risk. Lee will explain the importance of telcos taking risks, and the methods used to evaluate the risks they take. He will also present research on what happens when things go wrong. Thwack!

That is a powerful combination of speakers. I do not care if you get to London by catching a plane, riding a train, driving, cycling, walking, crawling, or firing yourself from a big cannon, because I know the journey will be worth it. Ringside seats are free, and they even give you lunch, doughnuts and drinks afterwards (just be careful not to miss your plane/train home).

And we should not forget the secret weapon of RAG: the high-powered audience of professionals that regularly attend. The wit and wisdom of the speakers is always matched by contributions from the floor. The interaction with the audience is one reason that experts keep coming back for more.

If you know of a better telecoms risk and assurance conference happening anywhere in the world this November, then let me know, and I promise to see you there! If not, then I look forward to seeing you in London. Just remember to email Rob Chapman, Master of Ceremonies and RAG Chairman, to advise you will be coming.

Ding ding. Fraud is on the rise, the leaks have not stopped, and there are new risks everywhere we look. Come to the RAG meeting in London on Thursday 12th November, and learn the best ways to fight for your business.
