Survey of Enterprise Risk Management in UK Telcos

Over the last few months I have been talking to 12 well-known British telecommunication providers, asking their Investor Relations departments about the way their businesses manage risk. I have also been reading through what those telcos say about risk management in the annual reports they provide to shareholders. Today it is my privilege to present the findings at the Risk & Assurance Group (RAG) London Conference.

Whilst the conclusions of the survey were disappointing, I believe it is well worth analysing the reasons telcos choose not to embed enterprise risk management (ERM) within the work of their senior management team. Though there is plenty to say about the results, I also expect to learn as much from hearing the views of the knowledgeable RAG audience, and of my guest on stage, Peregrine Chard, who is a Director of Consulting Services at Ericsson, and who was previously the Head of Strategic Programme Assurance at Vodafone. For those of you who cannot join us, the main findings are stated in my presentation pack, which can be viewed below.
