Why Has Subex Joined the RAG Wangiri Blockchain?

Rohit Maheshwari, Head Of Strategy and Products at Subex, explained why their market-leading fraud management system will connect to the global blockchain ledger of wangiri attacks.

In my experience, it can be difficult to persuade vendors to make simple changes to their products that will help the RAFM community. So it is refreshing that Subex, the Indian vendor with a long history of leading the market for telecoms fraud management systems, has been quick to see the advantages of connecting their software to the RAG Wangiri Blockchain. Making the link will mean telcos can access the common global knowledge base of wangiri intelligence without leaving the Subex ROC Fraud Management System. Regulators are currently pushing telcos to do more to protect customers from wangiri fraud, and this alliance shows how significant improvements in fraud prevention can be delivered at low cost and high speed, so long as we all work together for the common good! But not every vendor sees things the same way. I asked Rohit Maheshwari, Head Of Strategy and Products at Subex (pictured) why his business was so keen to join the RAG Wangiri Blockchain Consortium.

Eric: Thank you, Rohit, for throwing the weight of Subex and its large customer base behind the RAG Wangiri Blockchain, and for agreeing to share your thoughts about the initiative. To begin with, why do you think it is important to exchange data to fight frauds like wangiri?

Rohit: Technology today allows fraudsters to collaborate and outsmart traditional controls of managing fraud.

While it has long been an industry need to exchange fraud intelligence data, it has never been as urgent as it is today. Data exchange allows the lowering of the cost of fighting fraud and can deliver the speed, quality, and diversity of information necessary to fight fraud effectively.

Eric: Will Subex encourage their customers to exchange their wangiri data through the RAG Wangiri Blockchain?

Rohit: Past industry efforts at data exchange have been limited and largely offline efforts. We at Subex are excited about the promise of the RAG Wangiri Blockchain as it enables an API based mechanism for telecom operators to exchange data.

Further, this will be one of the first large scale blockchain based efforts in the fraud data exchange space. We believe this is a great opportunity for the industry to come together by effectively using this blockchain-based technology.

Eric: What would you say are the benefits to Subex’s customers of integrating their fraud management systems with a global data exchange mechanism like the RAG Wangiri Blockchain?

Rohit: The idea of integrating Subex’s fraud management solution with the wangiri blockchain and other new data exchanges is that it will make it extremely easy for our customers to configure controls directly from within the solution. They will be able to do this without having to perform manual downloads and uploads of data.

We want our customers to have a frictionless experience. Integrating our FMS with the wangiri blockchain means customers will find it simple to access this crowdsourced data intelligence platform.

Eric: Thanks for explaining why Subex supports the RAG Wangiri Blockchain. It’s good to have you on board.
