Survey Says Regulators Not Doing Enough to Stop Fraud

The new i3forum-RAG survey of international wholesale fraud showed widespread dissatisfaction with regulatory frameworks.

It is bad practice to share conclusions from a survey before the survey is actually concluded but I tend to do it anyway. My vague hope is that a preview of the results will shame some of the professionals who like to know what is happening with their peers but who never take the time to complete questionnaires. There has been a great response to the new i3forum-RAG survey of fraud managers working for international wholesale carriers but the surprise news is that the deadline for responding has been extended for two weeks to allow extra time for everybody whose email autoresponders said they were already on holiday. The less surprising news is that most of you think regulators need to do a better job. But whether you believe that or not, the survey takes just 10 minutes and you will find the simple multi-choice questionnaire below.

Having lured you into reading this post with one titbit of information there is a risk you will punish me by submitting contrary answers out of spite. But I took the chance because a lot of you would need to respond to massively change the outcome for Question 12, which asked: “are you satisfied with your country’s regulatory framework with respect to fraud?” The answer so far is an overwhelming “no!” and I would be surprised if Commsrisk readers suddenly reveal themselves to be big fans of regulators. So if you oversee fraud for an international wholesale carrier then get off the sidelines and into the game. It will only take you 10 minutes and it may result in a miracle, like our being able to persuade a regulator to do a better job. Or not. But we definitely will not get them to do a better job unless we show how proactive we can be. So come on! The survey is below. Did I mention it only takes 10 minutes? The sooner you stop reading this, the sooner you will have completed the survey and can go back to your holidays, or whatever it is you do when you are not complaining about regulators.

Congratulations on being such a cunning reader that you have scrolled past the survey because you are still looking for the new deadline for submissions. You correctly noticed it has not been mentioned so far. And it is not mentioned here either! Did you not read the part where it says the survey only takes 10 minutes to complete? Stop pretending you are going to schedule 10 minutes for this survey in your diary on Thursday next week. If you can see the questionnaire now then just answer it now! And if you cannot see the questionnaire then the deadline must have passed already…
