Alltel Buys cVidya Fraud Solution

cVidya, the Israeli RA vendor, recently announced the sale of its fraud management solution to Alltel, a wireless brand of US telco Atlantic Tele-Network; see the press release here. No details were given, other than emphasizing that Atlantic Tele-Network already uses cVidya’s revenue assurance software. Recent results highlight that Alltel’s subscriber base has been shrinking at around 5% per quarter since it was acquired by Atlantic Tele-Network in the middle of 2010; prior to the deal, Allnet had around 800,000 subscribers, mainly in rural states. Recent cVidya marketing has put more focus on smaller telcos, with solutions provided via the ‘cloud’. This deal with Alltel would be consistent with a policy of targeting low-cost offerings to smaller providers who were previously on the margins of the market.
