How Much Would You Pay for an RA Website?

Long-time readers will remember talkRA.com, the predecessor to Commsrisk. Having given up the domain ages ago, idle curiosity led me to check what is there now. What I found was an advert from HugeDomains, purveyors of ‘premium’ domains. All they wanted in exchange for the rights to talkRA.com was USD3,595!!!

That kind of money was a lot more than I made from running that site. I remember talkRA with affection; it had a terrible design and a badly-chosen name. (Some of you may think not much has changed.) But it served a purpose. Over the years it amassed a loyal following. Many of the bloggers and readers at talkRA.com are still part of the Commsrisk community. All of them remain friends.

I also checked out my old copycat rival at ra-blog.org. Remember him? Whatever happened to that guy? I think his crooked lying boss once told him he was an RA thought leader and he took it too seriously, so he started a blog which talked about literally everything except revenue assurance inside telcos… which illustrates how much knowledge he was able to share. Anyway, it seems the DNS for his website now resolves to nothing. So I guess it would be cheaper to buy that domain, if you are shopping around for used RA blog domain names.

If you want to buy this domain, feel free to make an offer! I promise you cannot afford it. That is not because Commsrisk is making anyone rich. Some things are worth more than money. It is an irony that those may also be things that some people will try to buy, sell, steal and copy.
