Analytics, Profits, Aussie Scam Reduction and EU Abuse of Microtargeting: Commsrisk Show 10

Yesterday’s episode of The Communications Risk Show was the penultimate broadcast in the current series so we covered an especially wide range of topics.

  • Mike Willett (pictured, right) is a Partner at EY and was formerly RAFM Director at Telstra. He gave us an interview about extracting increased value through analytics.
  • The presenter team debated why Australia has enjoyed great success at reducing scam calls and text messages compared to other countries.
  • We also discussed the violation of EU data protection rules by a European Commissioner who microtargeted social media adverts according to the political and religious beliefs of recipients. This was done to increase public pressure on national governments that had expressed reservations about the Commissioner’s plan to mandate the automated scanning of all electronic messages.

I could try to summarize the multi-faceted conversation, but why do that when you can watch it below?
