Commsrisk Top Ten for October 2019

October’s most widely-read article focused on the apparent racism of telecoms risk management. The huge number of hits for this piece, which was only published two days before the end of the month, shows how strongly risk professionals feel about the subject. However, I struggle to remember any occasion when a telco risk association overtly addressed racial inequality. Perhaps this is because some of those organizations are dominated by committees and management teams that are almost exclusively white, and hence lack the self-awareness to notice the dearth of diversity.

Commsrisk may have an advantage in commenting upon racial disparities because it reaches an audience that is more representative of telco risk professionals worldwide. In recent years Commsrisk has seen steady growth in traffic from developing countries, with the result that the audience is now evenly balanced between Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. Only Latin America lags behind, probably because that audience wants material in Spanish or Portuguese. Regarding the content, there are no obvious patterns indicating a certain kind of story is favored in a certain part of the world. The most popular Commsrisk stories receive similar levels of attention across the continents.

These were the ten most popular Commsrisk articles during October.
