HardenStance Network Security Sales Index Q2 2018

The Hardenstance index tracks sales by eight important vendors of network security. Last quarter was positive; most vendors enjoyed a significant rise in sales year-on-year.

Hello and welcome to a new quarterly feature for Commsrisk: the Hardenstance Network Security Index (NSSI). Each quarter the NSSI tracks the security sales made by eight of the largest vendors of network security hardware and software. Those vendors are: Cisco Systems; Check Point; Fortinet; Juniper Networks; Palo Alto Networks; Sophos; Symantec; and Trend Micro. The purpose is to monitor customer demand, as measured by sales and profitability.

Sales in the second quarter totaled USD4bn for the eight vendors reviewed; this represents a ten percent rise year-on-year. Growth was strongest for Palo Alto Networks, who overtook Cisco for most security sales. Sales were up for all vendors except Symantec. Look below for the detailed analysis, and also for contact details if you want to learn more or to subscribe to the index.
