MTN RAFM Staff Describe ‘Amazing’ Training Program

I do not know Matso Dichabe (pictured above) but if a picture paints a thousand words then her smile speaks volumes about the online education program that MTN uses to develop their RAFM staff. Here are some of the words her colleagues used:

  • “amazing”
  • “exciting”
  • “informative”
  • “awesome”

How often do you hear RAFM people describe something they work with as being “awesome”? Maybe ten times a year. Now subtract the salespeople trying to sell a vendor’s tools and answer the same question again. You would be lucky to hear a telco RAFM team use the word “awesome” once in a decade, unless you count the times when people were being sarcastic. But these RAFM managers and analysts are clearly thrilled by the investment MTN has put into their education. You can see it in their faces, as they talked about MTN’s program for the video below.

The video opens with Tony Sani, RAFM Executive at MTN Group. Those who follow RAFM closely will not be surprised to see Tony’s name connected to this kind of education program, or the positive results reported by his colleagues. Tony won the 2016 Subex Outstanding Contribution award in recognition of his championing of professional education. Since then Tony has donated a sample course to RAG Learning, an online education system backed by the Risk & Assurance Group (RAG). RAG Learning is modeled on the pioneering methods used in MTN Group. If more telcos and vendors can be persuaded to pool their knowledge and resources there is a chance that Tony’s MTN initiative will provide the blueprint for a comprehensive online education service delivered to telecoms risk and assurance practitioners worldwide. Now that would be amazing!
