Nigerian Masts Come Under Attack

Nigerian police have been called in to defend mobile phone masts after dozens were destroyed by Islamist militants. You can read the Reuters story here. The scale of the damage is unusual, but the events reflect how telcos provide a vital service to the community, whilst also offering a potential military and terrorist target. Mobile operators need to assess the security of their infrastructure, and should maintain contingency plans for its rapid repair and replacement.
