RAG TV Episode 1: Fighting Scams and Spoofing by Adapting STIR/SHAKEN for Each Telco

We knew a lot of work would go into delivering RAG Television, the new live streaming video show from the Risk & Assurance Group, but nobody said that it would also be so much fun to make. Yesterday’s episode also covered plenty of serious ground, and the audience’s interest was confirmed by the number of questions submitted whilst the show was being streamed.

Special guest Jeffrey V. Ross, COO of GBSD Technologies, joined us from Texas to talk about STIR/SHAKEN, the protocol for authenticating caller IDs whose adoption has been mandated by regulators in the USA and Canada. Many of Jeffrey’s customers are based elsewhere in the world, so he talked about reasons to expect STIR/SHAKEN will be implemented widely, and how it can be adapted to suit the circumstances of different telcos.

Co-host Lee Scargall and I also discussed the recent arrest of telco executives in Tanzania and the exploitation of the coronavirus epidemic by scammers. You can watch the recording of the show below, and do not forget to check the schedule of guests and times for future episodes.
