Episode 3 of the current season of RAG Television was streamed live on Wednesday, with guests Kingsley Unah and Dion Price stimulating plenty of conversation. Dion, who is CEO of Trustonic, spoke about some of the subtler uses of the ‘remote control’ capability that comes with embedding Trustonic’s technology on two billion handsets worldwide. For example, he explained that some telcos selectively limit the functionality available to subscribers who failed to pay their bills, whilst others use the screen to present customers with payment reminders they cannot ignore. Kingsley (pictured above) compared billing accuracy expectations and KYC requirements in Africa and North America, and forced me to think differently about when certain types of customers complain.
Regular host Lee Scargall and I also discussed the extraordinary claims of wrongdoing by mobile money service providers in Zimbabwe, and how they sound like an excuse for the government to manage an economic crisis by effectively taking control of every Zimbabwean’s digital wallet.
