After months of development, we are on the verge of completing the first major overhaul of the Commsrisk website since March 2015. The old layout became as familiar as the face of an old friend, and has seen the audience grow enormously since it was introduced. The audience climbed to spectacular new heights in 2023, but that also meant there were a couple of outages when web servers were unable to keep pace with demand. This prompted us to construct a new architecture based on all-new code that is more efficient whilst simplifying the addition of new functionality in future, allowing us to plan for the introduction of innovative interactive features during the year ahead. Visitors to the new site on its January 15 launch date will see a fresh new home page that compacts more articles into less space, making it easier for them to navigate to the stories that most interest them.
Commsrisk will also become the host of content created collaboratively by professionals through the Risk & Assurance Group (RAG). The goal is to leverage Commsrisk’s reach in order to boost the attention received by RAG’s crowdsourced inventories of fraud and business assurance leakages, which will hopefully lead to even more comprehensive listings of the risks that comms providers have to deal with. Visitors to riskandassurancegroup.org will be redirected to the dedicated RAG section at commsrisk.com/rag.
You do not have to wait until January 15 to try the new site. You can already try the beta for the new site at staging.commsrisk.com. We are searching for any small remaining glitches so if you spot an error, please let us know! Now would also be a good time to share any ideas about features or functionality you would like us to add this year.
